Resistor Band Explanation
3-Band Resistors:
1st Digit:
Represents the first significant digit (the leftmost band).
2nd Digit:
Represents the second significant digit.
Multiplier:
The factor by which the two-digit number is multiplied to determine the resistance value.
Note:
A default tolerance of ±20% is assumed.
4-Band Resistors:
1st Digit:
The first significant digit (leftmost band).
2nd Digit:
The second significant digit.
Multiplier:
The multiplier factor applied to the two-digit number.
Tolerance:
Indicates the percentage tolerance; located on the right side.
5-Band Resistors:
1st Digit:
The first significant digit (leftmost band).
2nd Digit:
The second significant digit.
3rd Digit:
The third significant digit.
Multiplier:
The multiplier that scales the three-digit number.
Tolerance:
Specifies the resistor's tolerance; located on the right side.
6-Band Resistors:
1st Digit:
The first significant digit (leftmost band).
2nd Digit:
The second significant digit.
3rd Digit:
The third significant digit.
Multiplier:
The multiplier factor applied to the three-digit number.
Tolerance:
Indicates the tolerance percentage; located on the right side.
Temperature Coefficient:
Represents the resistor’s temperature coefficient (ppm/K) and is not used in the resistance calculation.
